The next is excerpted from Combine Artwork Society.

On this workshop, contributors will use basketry methods to weave with invasive plant species and different pure supplies. The workshop will situate weaving in a communal setting as an embodied apply that considers our connections and obligations to land and setting. Throughout the workshop we are going to discover how these practices might be a part of reconsidering and decoding ancestral abilities within the present second. Estraven will share how they join with their very own cultural practices, and critically interact with having a land based mostly apply as an uninvited visitor on unceded Indigenous territory.

Estraven Lupino-Smith is a queer and non-binary trans artist, researcher, and educator born in Dish with One Spoon territory to an Italian and Scottish household. Their apply is interdisciplinary, knowledgeable by their inventive and important engagements with human interactions in our environments: pure, cultural, and constructed. Via the embodied apply of weaving, Estraven considers the entanglements of supplies and place, the relationships between people, landscapes, settlement, and the shifting of panorama via the seasons.
