Fort Hays State College is erecting obstacles on campus to fend off potential hen assaults. The transfer could sound like one thing out of a basic Alfred Hitchcock horror film however the aggressors on the FHSU campus are a pair of Mississippi kites, a small, protected hen of prey frequent throughout the Nice Plains.
The birds have nested close to FHSU's library and one has taken to divebombing individuals who come too shut.
To guard these on campus, FHSU erected barricades and positioned yellow warning tape across the tree that the birds are nesting in, based on reporting from native CBS affiliate KWCH 12. One hen is reportedly "vigorously defending the encompassing space of a number of hundred yards."
Since Mississippi kites are migratory, the obstacles are anticipated to be a brief measure.
