Greek coast guard rescue 29 migrants and seek for dozens extra after their boat sinks east of Karpathos island.
Greek authorities say an enormous search and rescue operation has been launched east of the island of Karpathos after a ship reportedly carrying dozens of migrants and refugees sank in a single day.
The coast guard stated on Wednesday that 29 individuals, all males, had been rescued from the ocean 33 nautical miles (38 miles, 61km) east southeast of Karpathos, a southeastern island between Rhodes and Crete.
These rescued have been from Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran, and advised authorities there had been about 60 to 80 individuals on board the vessel when it went down, the coast guard stated.
These rescued stated the boat had set sail from the Antalya space on the southern Turkish coast and was aiming for Italy when it bumped into hassle throughout the evening.
