Police say rebels storm India military camp in Kashmir, 5 killed

SRINAGAR, India — Three Indian troopers and two suspected militants had been killed Thursday after rebels stormed a army camp in disputed Kashmir, officers stated.

At the very least two assailants armed with weapons and grenades attacked the camp within the distant Darhal space of southern Rajouri district early Thursday, stated Mukesh Singh, a senior police officer.

The troopers responded to the assault, triggering a gunbattle that lasted for a minimum of three hours, Singh stated.

A reinforcement of troopers and counterinsurgency police encircled the camp because the preventing raged inside, officers stated.

Along with the 5 deaths, two troopers had been injured within the preventing, Singh stated.

There was no impartial affirmation of the incident.

On Wednesday, police stated authorities forces killed three rebels in Budgam district throughout a counterinsurgency operation.

India and Pakistan declare the divided territory of Kashmir in its entirety.

Rebels within the Indian-controlled portion of Kashmir have been preventing New Delhi’s rule since 1989. Most Muslim Kashmiris help the insurgent purpose of uniting the territory, both beneath Pakistani rule or as an impartial nation.

India insists the Kashmir militancy is Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. Pakistan denies the cost, and most Kashmiris contemplate it a reputable freedom wrestle. Tens of hundreds of civilians, rebels and authorities forces have been killed within the battle.
