Kolkata: Almost 14 years after Trinamul Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee’s fierce anti-land acquisition motion whereas within the opposition drove out Tata Motors with its Nano undertaking of Singur in West Bengal, her authorities has now entrusted the car large for constructing, working and sustaining 1,180 electrical buses in Kolkata to make public transportation emission free.
On Wednesday the West Bengal Transport Company (WBTC) awarded the work order to Tata Motors below the ‘Grand Problem’ initiative of Convergence Power Companies Restricted (CESL), the federal government designated nodal company for procurement and deployment of electrical automobiles together with e-buses throughout all authorities and state-run models by a homogenized course of to make sure general uniformity of auto requirements and operational compatibility.
The letter of acceptance was signed in presence of state transport minister Firhad Hakim, state transport secretary Binod Kumar and CESL managing director Mahua Acharya. Mr Hakim stated, “It will likely be carried out on a lease foundation.”
Tata Motors will design, manufacture and provide 4 classes of e-buses– 12-meter low-Flooring AC, 12-meter standard-floor non-AC, 9-meter standard-floor AC and 9-meter standard-floor non-AC buses below the settlement to WBTC aside from growing requisite charging infrastructure with a goal to finish the supply of all of the e-buses by 2023-end.
